Emoticon Review Timeline — KakaoTalk vs OGQ and What to Do While Waiting
4 min read·

You uploaded your first pack. Now what? Review windows differ between KakaoTalk and OGQ. This guide breaks down both timelines, how to check status, and what you should be doing while review is in flight.
KakaoTalk Review Timeline
Both KakaoTalk and OGQ officially take about 2–4 weeks. Busy periods can take longer, so leave room in your schedule. Results appear in the creator console or by email.
Friday submission means real review starts Monday.
OGQ Review Timeline
OGQ looks at specs and finish quality first, so avoiding a spec rejection alone cuts your wait. A rejection sends you back into the queue, so check size, transparent background and outline before submitting.
Where to Check Status
- KakaoTalk — Creator Studio > Emoticons > Status, or check registered email for notification.
- OGQ — Creator Studio > Submissions > Status. "In Review" vs. "Approved" vs. "Rejected."
- No need to obsessively refresh; most platforms email when a result lands.
What to Do While Waiting
The more packs you have for one character, the more often it shows up in the market. The 2–4 weeks while pack 1 is in review are a good time to prepare the next one.
- Sketch your next 2–3 concepts — One-line character idea, target audience, unique angle. Jot down 5 ideas; pick the strongest.
- Submit pack 1 to other platforms too — If targeting both KakaoTalk and OGQ, stagger submissions to pipeline them in parallel during the same wait.
- Organize reference assets — Sort generated images by pose, mood, angle. Build a visual library for next pack prompts.
Decoding Review Results
Approval: the pack is listed and goes on sale. Rejection: check the reason (Kakao often gives none), fix and resubmit (another 2–4 weeks) or take the same character to another platform.
